War Childhood Museum, together with HERMES, invites teachers and educators to take part in online seminar focused on the topics of genocide, war, and childhood. The registration is now open.
Participants in the international seminars will work with educational experts from the War Childhood Museum and HERMES to help them develop and/or improve their educational work concerning the topics of genocide, war and childhood. The seminar will make use of the collection of objects and stories at the War Childhood Museum in Sarajevo. There will be a special focus on the genocides in Srebrenica, Rwanda and Cambodia.
Working Languages: English
Format: Online
Admission: Free of Charge
Please note that by applying you commit yourself to participation in at least the first two seminars, which will be held on the following dates:
Seminar 1: Wednesday, March 11, 2026; 15:00 – 18:00 CET
Seminar 2: Thursday, March 12, 2026; 15:00 – 18:00 CET
Seminar 3: Friday, March 13, 2026; 15:00 – 18:00 CET
For the first seminar on March 11, recently created lesson plans by experts will be introduced, with a focus on approach, methodology and content. With the facilitation of these experts, the participants will discuss their own educational approaches and work on their own lesson plans. These will later be placed on the ‘teachers for teachers’ section of the WCM education site for others to use.
During the second and third seminars participants will receive feedback on their lesson plans and also explore how to design classroom exhibitions on issues related to genocide. Such exhibition creation has been one of the most useful lesson plans, as indicated by teachers and other educators, during a previous WCM project.
After completion of the program, participants will receive an official certificate of completion. In order to apply, please write a short motivational letter (100 words), detailing why you would like to participate in the 2-part seminar and how you plan to use your new insights.
