About the Project

 

The War Childhood Museum Foundation is participating in the Joining the Shards project, a two-year international initiative that brings together leading museums, research institutions, and cultural organizations from across Europe.

The aim of the Joining the Shards project is to strengthen the competences of museum and cultural heritage professionals in the conservation of ceramic artefacts, particularly those damaged or destroyed as a result of armed conflicts. The project also focuses on developing innovative approaches to historical interpretation and education related to ceramic heritage affected by war.

WCM works with partners: Fondazione MIC – Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche in Faenza (Lead Partner, Italy), Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (Germany), Ceramic Museum in Bolesławiec (Poland), The Khanenko Museum (Ukraine), CNR Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (Italy). Each partner contributes its unique expertise, ranging from conservation science and technological research to museum education, exhibition storytelling, and audience engagement.
