Areas You Can Support

Museum Sustainability

With nearly 7,000 personal objects and testimonies from 21 conflict and post-conflict contexts, the War Childhood Museum safeguards a collection that spans continents and historical periods, from World War II to the most recent armed conflicts. Each year, more than 30,000 visitors, including schoolchildren, engage with the Museum in Sarajevo, while traveling exhibitions, digital tools, and innovative formats, including the video game We Grew Up in War, bring these stories to audiences beyond the country.
This support ensures the careful preservation, digitization, secure storage, and ethical stewardship of this unique and irreplaceable collection, while sustaining the permanent Museum in Sarajevo.

Educational work

The Museum works across more than 50 municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and each year continues to engage children, educators, and local communities. This work uses personal testimonies and objects as a starting point for learning, while also developing and testing educational approaches that can be adapted beyond the classroom.
By supporting this area, you help sustain peace education rooted in the BiH context, while also enabling the development of transferable methodologies and innovative formats that allow these experiences to reach new audiences and respond to contemporary forms of learning.

Support for WCM Ukraine

The WCM Ukraine documents and preserves the experience of childhood affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine, while providing space for reflection, resilience, and remembrance. The collection already includes more than 1,000 personal objects and testimonies, forming the most comprehensive documentation of children’s experiences in this war. Work is underway to establish a permanent museum in Kyiv that will serve as a long-term educational and cultural institution.
By supporting this area, you help sustain WCM’s work in Ukraine, ensure professional care for the growing collection and support the team working under wartime conditions.
