In this set of activities the students explore and discuss both their knowledge and opinions regarding refugees. Students will also conduct internet research on refugees and connect this information to their own country.

Main age group: 15-18

Time needed: Part 1: appr. 1 x 45-minutes; Part 2: appr. 2-3 x 45-minutes; Part 3: appr. 2-3 x 45-minutes

Objectives:

  • Understanding the different reasons for migration
  • Understanding the difficulties that refugees experience
  • Understanding the impact of world history on the personal lives of individuals
  • Understanding the connection between refugees in the past and refugees today
  • Strengthening discussion and debate skills

Materials needed: Pen, paper, glue, scissors, large sheets of paper, access to the internet and a printer
