The War Childhood Museum will be celebrating International Museum Day this weekend (May 18-19) with a variety of activities. We are offering free admission to all visitors on Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, on Saturday, we will host three creative workshops and, for the first time, an evening literary event in our exhibition room. Those interested in contributing to our collection will have the opportunity to meet and talk with our curator and researcher, Ivana Roso.

Our creative workshops have been tailored for different age groups. “The Portrait of My Life,” was created together with the Gallery of Contemporary Arts Manifesto for individuals in late adulthood. Furthermore, we will conduct a workshop “Young Curators Lead You Through the Museum” for teenagers aged 13 to 16. Participants will have the chance to become curators for a day and develop a guided tour through the War Childhood Museum for their peers using mobile applications. For the youngest ones, there will be a LEGO workshop titled “Building Stories with LEGO Bricks,” where children will imagine and construct their own worlds, just as their peers did with the help of toys during the war.

At the end, on Saturday evening, we will host writers Lamija Begagic, Aida Secic Nezirevic, and Almir Imsirevic. They will read their stories and discuss “Peace in Literature” in local and regional literary movements.

If you would like to attend the literary evening, please confirm your participation here.
